Thurston County Food Bank

Founded in 1972 in a church basement, our organization has evolved from offering limited food choices to operating two pantries and a 25,000-square-foot warehouse. We provide fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable foods to a hunger relief network across four counties and are developing a Community Resource Hub for integrated services.

Core Philosophies:

  1. Eliminating Access Barriers: We expand food availability through Satellite and Mobile Food Banks, the FORKids School Backpack Program, and the Summer Lunch Program. We're also collaborating with local social services for comprehensive support.

  2. Prioritizing Health: Fresh, healthy food is essential. Our facilities are equipped for storing and distributing nutritious items, including fresh produce and frozen proteins.

  3. Prioritizing Children: With over 40% of our clients being children, we focus on their nutritional needs through dedicated programs like FORKids and Summer Lunch.

  4. Rescuing Good Food from Waste: In 2022, we salvaged nearly two million pounds of food that would have gone to waste, redistributing it to those in need.

  5. Partnership and Collaboration: We work closely with food distribution partners across four counties to enhance our mission of hunger elimination.

Yelm Community Services Food Bank

Serving Yelm and Rainier School Districts, and the Nisqually Tribal Reservation since 1971. Yelm Community Services is proud to be the first and oldest food bank in Thurston County.

Food Bank Hours:
Thursdays: 9 a.m. to 12:15p.m. at 624 Crystal Springs Rd. NW, Yelm WA 98597

Tenino Community Service Center Food Bank

TCSC provides food to a growing number of families throughout the Tenino-Bucoda area.

Tenino:

ROOF Food Bank

The food bank serves the Rochester community by supplying emergency food to families and individuals in need.

Hours of food distribution at 10140 Highway 12 SW, Rochester, WA 98579 are as follows:

Monday: 2:00-5:00
Tuesday: 2:00-5:00
Thursday:2:00-5:00
